We run taster events, training sessions and appear at conferences across the UK, all year round. We’re currently updating our online group listings and hope to have a new process in the coming months.

If you are interested in joining a Shared Reading group, please email and one of the team will get back to you with details.

Thursday 17 January, 5pm
New Year’s Revolution Party
with Outnumbered actor Claire Skinner

“For last year’s words belong to last year’s language
And next year’s words await another voice.”
― T.S. Eliot, Four Quartets

A new year brings a new chance for us to get together with our reading revolutionaries across the UK to share great stories, and celebrate everyone who gives their time to shout about, lead and grow Shared Reading communities.

With more than 500 Shared Reading groups now happening every single week, we’re keen to make sure, no matter who you are, or where you read, you can feel part of The Reader – so why not a party?

Volunteers, group members and members of the public are invited to Toynbee Hall from 5pm to help us think even bigger about how we bring The Reader to every community across the UK.

  • Hear from local Readers about the ‘wow’ moments that make every Shared Reading experience special
  • See the launch of the Golden Anthology created through a decade of experience reading aloud with older people
  • Special guest reader, actor Claire Skinner, known for stage roles in The Father and Rabbit Hole, as well as being the BAFTA-nominated star of BBC television series Outnumbered
