‘So let the way wind up hill or down,

O’er the smooth, the journey will be joy:

Still seeking what I sought when but a boy,

New friendship, high adventure, and a crown’

– Henry Van Dyke, ‘Life’

As a way of celebrating the achievements of all our group members, volunteers and staff, we presented them with the chance to vote for their favourite classic poems. Readers chose this selection as the most memorable and enjoyable.

All of the poems are interspersed with comments from readers in response to individual poems, and group members describing the effect of reading in their lives, giving you the opportunity to have the Shared Reading experience in your hands.
