Support Us

We are building a movement of Readers so that whoever you are, wherever you are, you can find a Shared Reading group near you. Shared Reading is  people-powered so whether you want to give your time as a volunteer, give a gift that gives back to The Reader, hold a fundraiser or make a one-off donation, your support will help us change lives and build stronger communities.

“After the reading group I feel a change in the way things go, like there’s fresher air – things feel more alive.”

The kindness and generosity of our supporters is essential to help us continue reading with people across the UK, including some of society’s most vulnerable.

A monthly donation is a great way to support our work to build a national movement of Shared Reading. If you would like to support us long-term or make a one-off donation you can do so safely and securely via The Reader’s JustGiving page.

Or you can send a cheque to our postal address.

“You have been my friend,” replied Charlotte
“that in itself is a tremendous thing.”

Do you have a good idea of how to raise money to support our Shared Reading groups across the UK? Then we want to hear from you!

Planning a sponsored read-a-thon at your workplace? Collecting pre-loved books from friends to sell at a car boot sale? Or perhaps you’re in training for the Three Peaks Challenge? Whatever lengths you’re willing to go to support The Reader, we want to be there to support you too.

Find out more about fundraising for us on our JustGiving page.

Your generosity will make a real difference:

  • A £10 donation could help provide books for a Shared Reading group in a Care Home for people living with Dementia.
  • A £100 donation could support vulnerable members of society at a Shared Reading group in a community setting.
  • A £500 donation could help train a volunteer to run a Shared Reading group in their community.
