The Reader International Forum
Thursday 26th & Friday 27th May
Calderstones Mansion House, Liverpool

And the live air, fanned with wings,
Bright with breeze and sunshine, brings
Into contact distant things,
And makes all the countries one.

- Swallows Travel To And Fro, Robert Louis Stevenson

Following the recent launch of Shared Reading in Germany and links to projects elsewhere across Europe, The Reader is presenting its first International Forum this May.

The two-day forum provides the opportunity for individuals and organisations interested in Shared Reading to meet, share ideas and discuss the vision for Shared Reading on a global scale. As well as showcasing the pioneering model and looking at the bigger picture together, there'll be the chance to explore opportunities for working together to bring Shared Reading to new international territories in a number of areas already established by The Reader - including business, health, education and the wider community - along with discussion on key topics such as ensuring quality in Shared Reading practice and establishing the impact of Shared Reading through research.

Held at Calderstones Mansion House - the site of the future International Centre for Reading - the days will also allow enthusiastic readers from around the world to discover the beauty of Calderstones Park, have afternoon tea with some of our Shared Reading group members and explore Liverpool  - home to many literary and cultural treasures!

Just before the International Forum, our latest Read to Lead course will take place at Calderstones on Monday 23rd - Wednesday 25th May. The three-day course - the only one that provides a comprehensive introduction to the read-aloud Shared Reading model - is the ideal pre-cursor to what promises to be an enriching event exploring the potential for Shared Reading, and crucially the benefits that come from it, to be felt on a global scale.

Tickets for The Reader International Forum cost £54 and can be purchased online here. Any further questions about the International Forum can be directed to emilycrawford@thereader.org.uk

Places on Read to Lead cost £750 and are limited. To book a place and for more information on Read to Lead, please contact jenniferkelly@thereader.org.uk
