TRO Business Manager Full-time (37.5 hours) £25,000
The continued growth of our organisation, including promotions and internal
restructuring, has resulted in the need to fill this key role.
This is a highly responsible and creative role which calls for a flexible,
hard-working, and highly intelligent person who also has excellent
organisational skills, and can lend themselves to our mission: a reading
revolution bringing great books to all. A background in planning/administration
is essential, as is experience of financial administration, and an
understanding of TRO’s ethos and purpose is vital. The role involves developing
an organic and upscalable structure for a fast-growing and lively organisation
which is always developing new ideas, products and services. Working with a
team of 20+ individuals, with complex logistical demands, in a newly formed
charity, the role offers potential to shape the internal growth of an exciting
and relatively unstructured organisation. TRO plans to grow into a national
organisation during the next five years. A key part of this role is to ensure
that growth does not compromise our original ideals.
Key Responsibilities:
· Manage the day to day financial affairs of TRO
(including income and expenditure, payroll, invoicing etc.) We currently have a
turnover of approximately £500,000 and growing.
· Be responsible for budgeting and all other financial
planning and reporting including preparing the annual audit
· Develop and maintain operational systems and
reporting structures (particularly in HR/Finance/Planning/QA/IT/
Information Management)
· Manage TRO’s annual calendar
· Work with the Director to develop and implement an
annual core fundraising/income generating strategy
· Develop and implement project management systems
across the organisation
· Work alongside the Director to manage the business of
TRO efficiently
· Oversee compliance with all governance and other
legal requirements
· Line manage an office administrator
· Act as Secretary to the Board of Trustees
· Other duties as decided by Director

Works alongside: all TRO colleagues, especially Director and Development
Manager and the Board of Trustees

Experience
Management experience in a similar type of organisation or role
Experience of working in a changing and evolving environment
Experience of developing and managing bespoke systems and procedures
Education, Qualifications, Training
Degree or equivalent relevant professional qualifications
Skills, General and Special knowledge
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Attention to detail
Excellent report writing skills
Excellent time management skills in order to manage a busy, varied and
demanding workload
Excellent IT skills, especially Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint and Excel),
use of electronic email and the internet
