Saturday 31 July and Sunday 22 August, 10am, 12noon & 2pm

Saturday 31 July

This session is inspired by The Epic of Gilgamesh, aancient tale from our ‘Walking the Earth’ bookshelf. This craft activity will involve painting slate signs.

Sunday 22 August

This session is inspired by The Old Ways by Robert Macfarlane from our ‘Walking the Earth’ bookshelf, a wonderful book that links paths to stories and heritage.

Since the start of Covid-19 we have been inviting people to create a page about their pandemic experiences for our Commonplace Book, a community scrapbook documenting this unique time. In this session you will have the opportunity to add to our Commonplace Book by making map collages of the paths you made during Covid-19, wherever they might have been. Perhaps you will plot your favourite route in the park, or your regular circuit round your garden...

Our Make sessions are self-led activities and no previous experience is required, however, we recommend that this activity is suitable for older children and adults. Your activity will take place in one of our Reading Rooms in the Mansion House and up to six people can attend. The Reader will provide all the instructions and materials needed.

Our wonderful programme funders enable us to make this activity free of charge for anyone to enjoy. At the moment, to keep everyone safe, there are a limited number of spaces available and lots of people would like to book. Therefore we kindly ask that if your plans change and you can no longer join (it happens!), please let us know so we can release the space for someone else to enjoy.
