Spoken Word – August

Thursday 12 August, 7pm
£10.00

A shaded lamp and a waving blind,
And the beat of a clock from a distant floor:
On this scene enter—winged, horned, and spined—
A longlegs, a moth, and a dumbledore;
While 'mid my page there idly stands
A sleepy fly, that rubs its hands...

An August Midnight - Thomas Hardy

Our August Spoken Word event will feature special guest Will Sergeant (Echo and the Bunnymen). Will is coming to the Mansion House to discuss his upcoming memoir Bunnyman (out 15 July) with Bido Lito writer Cath Holland and will be available to sign copies of his book at the end of the evening.

Spoken Word events encompass a huge variety of writing and performance styles, from the intimately personal and heart-breaking to the uproariously funny and celebratory. Poetry in all its forms will be the main feature, along with memoirs, stories, monologues and any number of almost-indefinable types of prose!

We recommend this event for adults 18+. Doors 6pm. This is event will be held indoors.The Mansion House is wheelchair accessible, for access enquiries please contact us at tickets@thereader.org.uk.
