We are building a movement of Readers so that whoever you are, wherever you are, you can find a Shared Reading group near you. Shared Reading is people-powered so whether you want to give your time as a volunteer, give a gift that gives back to The Reader, hold a fundraiser or make a one-off donation, your support will help us change lives and build stronger communities.
Make a Donation
“After the reading group I feel a change in the way things go, like there’s fresher air – things feel more alive.”
The kindness and generosity of our supporters is essential to help us continue reading with people across the UK, including some of society’s most vulnerable.
A monthly donation is a great way to support our work to build a national movement of Shared Reading. If you would like to support us long-term or make a one-off donation you can do so safely and securely via The Reader’s JustGiving page.
Or you can send a cheque to our postal address.
Become a Friend
“You have been my friend,” replied Charlotte
“that in itself is a tremendous thing.”

- A £10 donation could help provide books for a Shared Reading group in a Care Home for people living with Dementia.
- A £100 donation could support vulnerable members of society at a Shared Reading group in a community setting.
- A £500 donation could help train a volunteer to run a Shared Reading group in their community.
