New Funding Received for Looked-after Children Projects
The Reader Organisation is delighted to annouce that we have received funding from the J Paul Getty Jnr Charitable Trust to run two projects with Looked-after Children (children in the care of the local authority) over three years. We have been running Get Into Reading projects with Looked-after Children in Wirral for four years, and in Liverpool for 18 months. This funding from J. P. Getty Jnr will allow us to continue this vital work with these young people who need it most.
The money will enable us to work in Liverpool and Wirral with a dedicated project in each area who will read one-to-one with 12 children each week, facilitate a reading group with care leavers, and also work with foster carers, social workers and teachers to help spread a culture of shared reading and well being. Securing funding for 3 years is fantastic and we are absolutely delighted, as are the young people we work with. Here's what some of our young beneficiaries say:
