Bring the joy of literature to a looked after 2-4 year old
“Thank you for helping me read better and for making reading fun and not stupid boring.” Reading Hero, aged 6.
Make a difference to a child’s life by sharing the joy of stories, rhymes and songs
‘Reading for pleasure is the single most important thing that will make a child successful in life.’ (UNESCO, 2011).
Could you spare an hour a week to read with a looked after child? We’re looking for volunteers in Liverpool, Southport and North Liverpool who can read with a child aged 2-4 in their home, during the day time, for a minimum of six months.
By volunteering on our Tiny Heroes project, you’ll be instilling a love of stories, rhymes and songs which can enhance a child’s life prospects. You’ll also be joining a warm and welcoming network of wonderful volunteers making a difference across the city region.
If you’d like to get involved, we’d love to hear from you …
· To start your Tiny Heroes journey, fill in a volunteer application form
· Training will be provided and will take place in person on Monday 21st August at our offices in Calderstones Park, L18 3JB
· We will ask you to undertake a number of safeguarding requirements for this role including an enhanced DBS check, safeguarding training and a reference
The deadline for applications is Monday 7th August, however we may close applications early if we receive a large amount of interest.
