Poetry Party at Gravity – how to get involved!
How do we joyfully mark the end of Gravity festival 2022? With a poetry party of course!
We’re inviting everyone and anyone who has read a poem which they have valued and found meaningful over the past year to sign up to read it aloud in our grand finale.
Whether you do or don’t want to read aloud, come along and hear our staff, volunteers, Shared Reading group members and members of the public read their favourite pieces aloud.
Who knows, you might discover a new poem, or an old one!
This event will be live streamed so if you can’t make it in person you can still take part by watching online or sending a video of yourself reading your chosen poem.
HOW TO TAKE PART
We’d love to see and hear from as many people from our Shared Reading community as possible. Here’s everything you need to know if you’re thinking about signing up...
- This event will take place in person and online, the event will be live streamed and recorded.
- Please choose a poem that you can read in under four minutes and is meaningful or significant to you. We’re not looking for poems that you’ve written yourself but examples where you’ve connected to a poem written by someone else.
- We are asking people to sign up and give us some information in advance so that readings are allocated fairly. If you choose to take part, we’ll only share your first name at the event by way of introducing your reading.
You can sign up to take part either in person or by video submission online by filling out the form below. (If you’d rather not fill in a form then drop into the Mansion House to see us!)
Sign up by 19 September – we will contact everyone who has submitted by 21 September– and submissions via video will need to be submitted by 26 September.
