The Reader scoops up LCR’s Outstanding Contribution to Culture Award
We’re so proud to have won the Outstanding Contribution to Culture Award at Liverpool City Region’s Culture and Creativity Awards 2021.
The winner for this award was decided by a public vote and we were up against some really impressive organisations, including Julia Samuels & 20 Stories High, Claire Pitt, Metal, Luma Creations, and the Young Everyman Playhouse.
To everyone who voted for us – we can’t thank you enough. Your support helps raise the profile of The Reader and propel the Reading Revolution forward!
It’s also important for us to thank our volunteers up and down the country (and around the world!) and our brilliant funders too. Quite simply, we wouldn’t be the organisation we are today without you!
The Liverpool City Region Awards 2021 were held at the Cronton Playhouse in Halton and hosted by BBC Merseyside’s Ngunan Adamu. Thanks to Jemma Guerrier, our Chief of Transformation and Growth, and Greg Harwood-Jenkins, our Young Persons Mentor, for representing The Reader at the event and collecting our shiny new award!
Other awards celebrated at the event included: Artist of the Year, Arts Organisation of the Year, Student Inspiration Award, Impact Award (for lots of categories!), Borough of Culture ‘Star of the Year’ and the Judges Inspiration Award. You can view the full list of finalists here.
The Reader was also a finalist in the Impact Award for Future
World of Work but we were pipped to the post by well-deserved winners Merseyside Community Training.
What a brilliant start to 2022 – we can’t wait to see where we go from here!
