We’re building a Shared Reading movement so that whoever you are, wherever you are, you can find a group near you.
What happens at a Shared Reading group?
Our groups come together over a cup of tea (and perhaps a biscuit or two) every week. The Reader Leader will bring a story and poem to be read aloud, either by them or a willing group member and during the session, the group will pause to reflect on what’s been read, to work out what’s going on and how it makes us feels. There’s no pressure to read aloud or join in the discussion if you don’t want to, you’re free to just listen along and enjoy a good story.
Who is Shared Reading for?
Absolutely everyone! We read with people all ages, backgrounds and abilities, everything is read aloud, all our groups are free to attend and everyone is welcome to join in. Whether you’ve been reading all your life or have never picked up a book before, you’ll find a warm welcome in a Shared Reading group.
Find a group near you
Some of our groups are specifically for carers or people living with dementia and some might already be full but most groups are welcome to new members so if you’d like to discover Shared Reading you can find a group happening in your area over the next week using the map or the search box below.
