St George’s Rose and Book Swap
St George's Rose and Book Swap
Tuesday 23rd April, 11am-2pm
Derby Square and Castle Street, Liverpool City Centre
To mark St George's Day and the beginning of the In Other Words Liverpool Literary Festival, The Commercial District BID is hosting a St Jordi Rose and Book Swap on Derby Square and Castle Street in the heart of Liverpool City Centre on 23rd April.
St Jordi is the Catalan celebration of St George's Day whereby it is tradition for people to give the gifts of a book and a rose to someone close to them to celebrate reading and literacy. Now the tradition is coming to Liverpool thanks to Commercial District BID, who want everyone to go home on the day of St Jordi with a book and a rose. All are welcome to come along with a book to exchange on this Tuesday lunchtime, with the first 200 people turning up to the event also receiving a free red rose.
The Reader Organisation will also be out in force at the event, providing books to exchange on the day, along with Scope Liverpool. Donations are welcome on the day and all leftover books will be donated to local charities.
For more information about the St Jordi event, please contact Alvaro Costela Sánchez on alvaro@thecommercialdistrict.com or 0151 233 4358, or visit the Commercial District BID website.
