If you would like to fundraise in aid of The Reader, then we’d love to hear from you! Every penny makes a difference in helping us changing lives through Shared Reading.

By fundraising for The Reader, you’ll be helping to bring life lines to more people in need. You’ll also be helping to raise awareness of Shared Reading, and spreading the joy of reading aloud! Check out our handy Fundraising guide below, and set up your own JustGiving page or donate any fundraising income here.

Fundraising Ideas

  • Coffee Morning – share a cup of coffee and a slice of cake with your group, friends or colleagues, read a poem or a favourite passage to bring a taste of Shared Reading to your event. 
  • Afternoon Tea – tea, cake, and poem or two and maybe even a glass of fizz?!  
  • Make us part of your special day – Whether you’re getting married, celebrating a birthday or marking an anniversary, we’d love to be part of your special occasion. You could ask for donations instead of gifts, set up an online giving page or host a party to raise funds. 
  • Sponsored Read with a child – Support your young relative or friend to read as much as they can within a set time and get your friends, colleagues and family to sponsor the challenge, we can provide you with a sponsorship form and all the support you need to make your fundraising a success. 
  • Sponsored walk – invite friends along and think about adding some seasonal poetry to your walk.
  • Read the Bookshelf – get sponsored to read The Reader Bookshelf – take your time or set yourself a challenge!  
  • Open Mic – host a spoken word event; do it yourself or join forces with your Shared Reading group; invite friends and family to share their favourite poems or extracts and enjoy some delicious food while raising vital funds for Shared Reading.  
  • Dinner Party: Host a dinner party; perfect for cosy winter nights in or alfresco dining in the summer, invite your friends and family to gather and celebrate with a seasonal poem. 
  • Knitting: Whether you like to knit in a group, or prefer to knit alone, selling your creations in aid of The Reader is a wonderful way to make a difference, while doing something you love. If you live in Liverpool our lovely Knit and Natter group meet each week at The Mansion House in Calderstones Park.  
  • Crafternoon: Do you have a skill you could share? Why not host a craft afternoon and share your gift with your community?
