The Storybarn Selects… From The Reader Bookshelf
The Reader Bookshelf is a carefully curated collection of literature for adults and children, exploring a different theme each year, this year’s theme ‘Wonder’ is about being bold, being curious and being open. Staff and volunteers around the country have selected 12 titles for children which explore what 'Wonder' means to them.
We're continuing to delve into the Children and Young People's choices from The Reader Bookshelf with a review by our Storybarn Manager, Natalia. This month Natalia shares her thoughts on Twenty Questions by Mac Barnett.
Do you like picture books that speak directly to you? Where you can be the main character and decide what is going to happen? If you have said yes, Twenty Questions by Mac Barnett is for you. This book is a delight to read from start to finish. Each page is full of playful illustrations that are paired with simple open-ended questions that will make you wonder in a BIG way. Where could the bandits have buried treasure? What kind of beast could live in a bathtub? There are no wrong or right answers. You are only encouraged to use your imagination and create story after story. This picture book is a future classic, one that children can grow with and remember with fondness.
