Care with Confidence: Book a Break
Do you have a friend, colleague or family member who is a carer? Are you yourself a new or existing carer? Do you know someone with a caring responsibility but don't usually think of them as a carer, or they might not even consider themselves as a carer?
The Reader Organisation and Local Solutions have joined forces to provide ten weeks of support for these people. We’ll be providing practical help and advice on stress management, support networks, health and wellbeing, taking time out for you, maximising income and accessing resources. And of course, what would life be without a great big dollop of Get Into Reading?! There will also be an opportunity to receive training in reading aloud to someone you care for, which will be based around our ground-breaking book A Little Aloud . It promises to be an inspiring course for all those who sign up.
The course, 'Care with Confidence: Book a Break', will start on Tuesday 1st March, 1.00pm – 3.00pm at Local Solutions, Mount Vernon in Liverpool.
For those who cannot easily reach Local Solutions, we can arrange transport there and back and we will reimburse travel expenses. For those who don’t want to leave the person they care for, we can provide a volunteer to sit with, and even read with, the person they look after.
"It's like going on holiday without packing your bags." Full time carer, Birkenhead
