Lloyds TSB Enterprise Awards Shortlisting
We're certainly in a celebratory mood at The Reader Organisation at the moment, as we have just received our second dose of exciting awards news in a week!
The Reader Organisation has been shortlisted for the Lloyds TSB Enterprise Awards North West Regional Heats. If successful, we will go through to the Grand Final in April and compete for the chance to win significant funding and mentoring support.
The awards showcase the most promising young business talent in the UK, recognising founders and co-founders of enterprises who have graduated in the last five years. Our particularly talented entrepreneur is Chris Catterall, who started volunteering for The Reader Organisation whilst still at the University of Liverpool and helped establish the organisation as a charitable social enterprise in 2008; he is now our Deputy Director.
The award nomination acknowledges both Chris's individual strengths and that of The Reader Organisation itself; since 2008, we have doubled the income generated by our social enterprise activity, increased our staff numbers by over 200%, and increased our Get Into Reading provision by nearly 300%.
A huge congratulations to Chris on his well deserved success - we're thrilled to have reached this stage in the judging process and are looking forward to the regional heats which take place in March.
