Volunteer Reader Leader honoured in Somerset
Volunteer Reader Leader Melanie Devine honoured by Taunton-Deane Mayor in Citizenship Awards.
We're delighted to congratulate our Volunteer Reader Leader Melanie Devine who delivers two Shared Reading groups as part of a project funded by Somerset County Council.
The staff at Taunton Library where Melanie reads were so grateful for all that she does for her group members that they secretly nominated her for the Mayor's Taunton-Deane Citizenship Award.
The panel, led by Taunton Deane Mayor Councillor Vivienne Stock-Williams, were so impressed by Melanie's commitment to her local community that they presented her with a certificate of commendation at the Citizenship Awards ceremony on Wednesday 26 April.
Our Volunteer Coordinator for the South West, Emma Crago told us:
"I'm chuffed to bits for Melanie and so proud of all that she's achieved.
We have so many wonderful volunteers in Somerset, bringing Shared Reading into their communities. It's always great to see their commitment and passion recognised by the group members and library staff but this feels extra special!"
