Daisy Dawes named first Resident Children’s Author at Liverpool Waterstone’s
Author Daisy Dawes has been asked by Waterstone’s in Bold Street, Liverpool to be their first resident children's author.
Daisy and the team at Waterstone's will be holding monthly 'Crafternoons' - workshops and events for children based on their favourite books, including Daisy's debut book Get Ahead Fred.
Author Daisy, who lives on Wirral, has worked as a model maker for feature film Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, children's TV series Pingu and Aardman's Rex the Runt. She will be sharing her model making and craft skills with youngsters who visit the Bold Street book shop throughout the year.
The next session will be held on Saturday September 25th, 1pm-3pm.
Published by Maverick Children’s Books, Get Ahead Fred tells the story of Fred, the man about town with a hat for every occasion. Stetsons, bowlers, berets... you name it, he’s got it. He’s extremely proud of his hat collection, but when the queen comes to visit, his hobby lands him in hot water!
Jennifer Dobson, Senior Bookseller at Waterstone's, Bold Street says:
Having Daisy here as our first resident children’s author is fantastic. It will be a great opportunity for our store to host these exciting events, where kids can get creative with plenty of activities at our craft days. We are all very much looking forward to it!
