The Reader Bar & Restaurant Opens in Liverpool
The team behind the Café and Ice Cream Parlour at Calderstones has opened the doors to an exciting new social enterprise in Liverpool city centre.
The Reader Bar & Restaurant, which is situated in the former home of Cuthbert’s Bakehouse on Mount Pleasant, offers customers a quality dining experience that supports our work to transform lives through literature and reading aloud.
Head of Commercial, Sales and Events, Laura McCarten said: “Our aim is that whoever comes into the space feels as though they are welcome and that they become aware of the work of The Reader, as well as enjoying themselves.
“The fact that we are mission-driven and not for profit will hopefully encourage people to support us as we look to put ourselves on the map!”
The Reader’s Director of Social Enterprise, Anton Clarke added: “As the cost of living crisis continues to bite, the funding landscape for charities remains uncertain and yet the need for services – like Shared Reading – is greater than ever.
“The Reader’s social enterprises provide much needed income to support the work that we do in communities across the UK. They also provide meaningful and ethical employment opportunities and provide a way for people to find out more about what we do and how they can get involved.”
The Reader Bar and Restaurant is open seven days a week, from 12pm until late. Bookings now open, visit: www.readerbarandrestaurant.co.uk
