Inspired by the Big Help Out campaign, we're doing a big push to recruit Reader Leader volunteers to bring Shared Reading into the places it's needed most. Our Reader Leaders bring together the power of literature, Shared Reading and community to transform lives.
We're looking for people who are interested in bringing Shared Reading to adults in a range of settings. Some groups are open to all while others are for those with specific needs including dementia, learning disabilities and refugees and asylum seekers. Volunteers would be invited to join our flagship Read to Lead training course and go on to spend a few hours per week delivering Shared Reading groups. We're particularly keen to hear from people in the locations below:
- Wigan, Somerset, Haringey, Hammersmith & Fulham, Croydon, Merton & Sutton, Liverpool, Sefton, Cheshire, Knowsley, Bristol, Haringey and Doncaster.
Could you be part of the story? We're running Shared Reading Introduction sessions so you can experience Shared Reading and find out more about the volunteer onboarding journey.
Sessions are running online on the following dates:
- Friday 12 May, 10:00am to 11:00am
- Wednesday 24 May, 3:30pm - 4:30pm
- Friday 9 June, 9:30am - 10:30am
- Monday 26 June 1:30pm - 2:30pm
