What's the Trail?

Our self-led trails last around 60 minutes and are perfect for all ages (though we do run a Storyhunter led trail just for ages 1-4 on Fridays).

Book in advance for a discounted price of £15 (includes 1 adult, 1 child, a map and pencil for every child and a copy of the book per family to keep)

What's the Story?

When a little girl comes face to face with Santa in her own house, she can hardly believe it! It’s her golden opportunity to ask him ALL the questions – that she’s been desperate to know… Can Santa eat clouds? Does he stop at traffic lights? Is his belly button innie or outie?

This festive tale channels the excitement and joy of every child who has dreamed of meeting the loveable guy who personifies the most magical night of the year.

How does it work?

Meet us at The Reader Bookshop at your booked time where a Storyhunter will give each child their map and pencil before you set off on your adventure. Discover activities on your wander through Calderstones Park that bring the story to life. At the end, bring your completed map back to The Reader Bookshop and each family will receive a copy of the book to take home and enjoy together.

The Mini Christmas Story Trail

Every Friday at 10am & 1pm, we’re running sessions exclusively for 1-4 year olds. This trail will be led by one of our Storyhunters.

Upgrade your visit: Hire a Room for £20

Our cafes can be extra busy during the festive period! Hire our cosy Reading Room for an exclusive gathering of up to 10 guests. Our team will take your order for breakfast, brunch or lunch from our café menu, pay your bill before you leave.

Make a day of it!

Our Cafés and Ice Cream Parlour are open 10am-4pm every day so you can start or end your adventure with breakfast, lunch, delicious cakes and hot drinks. Or, because ice cream is for Christmas too, pop over to our Ice Cream Parlour for a sweet treat.
