Following on from the huge success of last year's conference, The Reader Organisation’s Second National Conference will take place in Liverpool, Tuesday 17^th May 2011. It will bring together leading professionals  – nationally and internationally – in health, education, social care, community, local authority and criminal justice sectors, to join in the conversation about reading for wellbeing.

Our confirmed speakers are:

• Professor Maryanne Wolf, internationally acclaimed author of Proust and The Squid: The Story and Science of the Reading Brain
• Marilynne Robinson, Pulitzer Prize winning novelist (Gilead and Home)
• Professor Rick Rylance (Chair of the UK Arts and Humanities Research Council) on ‘Defending the Humanities’
• Sue Charteris, Founder and Director, Shared Intelligence

This is a CALL FOR IDEAS.

We especially want to hear from you if you are:

• Involved in projects researching ‘what happens when we read?’;
• Have a story to tell about developing shared reading projects across the UK, or further afield;
• Have something inspirational to share.

Please note that space is limited and we can only accept a small number of proposals for presentations, workshops, or membership of panels.
