Adventure awaits on new outdoor trail from The Storybarn and Walker Books
The Storybarn is bringing an action-packed outdoor adventure to Calderstones Park this summer in collaboration with Walker Books, the world's leading independent publisher of children's books.
The self-guided outdoor trail is based on the brilliant picture book The Prince and the Witch and the Thief and the Bears by Alastair Chisholm with beautiful illustrations by Jez Tuya.
It’s an epic tale of dragons, princesses, ninjas, and an extremely cute frog, but there’s just one problem – the story is disappearing right out of the book! By following clues on their maps and solving mysteries on the way, families can help the Storyhunters rescue the story before it’s too late…
Running every Tuesday – Sunday from 16 July until 31 August, this fully-accessible trail takes around one hour to complete and combines entertaining escapades from the book with a sparkle of Storybarn magic. It’s best suited to families with children aged 4 – 8 but all ages are welcome.
Trail sessions cost £12.99 per family and include a copy of The Prince and the Witch and the Thief and the Bears (RRP £6.99).
The partnership follows the success of the Santa Post Outdoor trail, The Storybarn’s Christmas collaboration with Walker Books in December 2020. With lockdown restrictions easing and the summer holidays approaching, this new trail is expected to be more popular than ever.
Annie Lord, The Reader’s Head of Children and Young People Projects said: ‘We’re so excited to be working with Walker Books again on this brilliant outdoor adventure. The Prince and the Witch and the Thief and the Bears is a firm favourite in The Storybarn and we can’t wait to see it brought to life in Calderstones Park.’
Ed Ripley, Sales and Marketing Director at Walker Books said: ‘We are delighted to be partnering with The Reader to bring Alastair Chisholm’s and Jez Tuya’s hilarious The Prince and the Witch and the Thief and the Bears to life. After a difficult year when so many activities have been cancelled, we look forward to entertaining families and inspiring children to embark on their very own storytelling adventures.’
