Celebrate the Storybarn’s Birthday this Half Term
“Today you are you, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is you-er than you. Shout aloud, I am glad to be what I am.”
Dr. Seuss, Happy Birthday to You
This February, the Storybarn will be turning FIVE!
We wanted so badly to throw a huge party and invite everyone to join us and celebrate the best way we know – with games, songs, stories and silliness. While we can’t all be together in person, we’re going to make sure we have just as much fun by moving the celebrations online. We’ve also missed celebrating YOUR birthdays, so we have devised a way we can bring some Storybarn magic to your parties at home.
Celebrate the Storybarn’s Birthday this Half Term
Families can join us on Zoom to celebrate our 5th birthday with an hour of games, stories and imagination to take your half term to the next level. But watch out, the Birthday Bugs are about, and they’re eating our books!
Best suited for children aged 4 – 9, but everyone is welcome! Fun for all the family, from the comfort of your home; we’re virtually bursting with excitement for this virtual party.
Tickets £5 per family, book here.
And we know we’re not the only ones celebrating, some of you are having lockdown birthdays too. Bring all the magic of the Storybarn directly to your home, with our new hour-long virtual birthday parties. Hosted by two of our Storyhunters and our brilliant Birthday Bugs, we’ll guide you and your guests through interactive games, storytelling and lots of fun! Parties cost £85 for up to 20 guest devices, plus a very special book posted out to the birthday child.
Call us on 0151 729 2227 or email storybarn@thereader.org.uk to request a date and time for your party.
Following our family heritage events last Autumn, Mysterious Megaliths is back, but this time in the form of our very first heritage Facebook Live stream.
Join our Storyhunters, the absent-minded Professor Hestor Orian and their unhelpful assistant Dave Hedgehog as they take you back in time to explore the Park’s Mysterious Megaliths, the curious Calder Stones. Over the hour–long session we’ll sharing three fantastic tales, as passed down by our ancient ancestors, and reveal a shocking family secret!
Monday 15 February, 11.30am. RSVP to our Facebook event.
With Spring just around the corner, we are making the most of enjoying those ever-lighter evenings and have chosen our next classic tale from the Storybarn bookshelf to share with you, a chapter at a time. Og the Giant will be falling down the rabbit hole and following Alice into Wonderland from Monday, 1st of March. You can watch the chapters each day on our YouTube channel, or wait until the end and drink them up all at once!
If you can’t wait that long, you can still watch our chapter-by-chapter readings of The Secret Garden and The Wind in the Willows anytime you like. And if you have little ones at home with you at the moment, join us every Friday at 11.30 for songs, crafts and a different story to share together every week!
