For the community, by the community.

Shared Reading has been proven to improve well-being, reduce social isolation and build communities – improving the lives of group members and volunteers alike.

As well as the well-being benefits, 71% of Reader volunteers say they enjoy having the opportunity to meet people they wouldn’t usually meet in their day-to-day lives.

We want to make Shared Reading available to everyone so that wherever you are cross the UK you can find a group near you. This ambition has been inspired by the incredible people power of our volunteers.

Get involved and be part of the story…

If you’d like to join our growing family of Reader Volunteers there are lots of ways you can get involved from helping to establish a Shared Reading group in your area to watering the plants at our Calderstones HQ:

  • Become a Shared Reading Advocate to help promote groups in your community and champion The Reader’s work.
  • Become a Shared Reading Organiser to support Reader Leaders in your area and help make Shared Reading part of your local community
